The railway market and future developments in Ukraine and the Central Asia were discussed in the expert seminar of Freight One Scandinavia, a logistics company specializing in rail transport between Finland, Russia and the CIS Countries. The current year in Ukraine has meant recession practically at all levels.

Freight One to Launch Subsidiary in Kazakhstan

The Board of Directors of Joint Stock Company Freight One has approved the decision to launch a subsidiary in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Regional diversification of the Company's activity is part of a long-term strategy allowing us to improve the quality of services to clients in Russia and Central Asia.

Improving the border crossing of cargo traffic will offer great savings. Hundreds of cargo units cross the Finnish-Russian railway border reliably and fast, but more than 500 wagons each year get their border crossing rejected. This is a small proportion of the whole amount ransported, but with a substantial economic impact, when noting the direct expenses such as labor cost, fixing of the loading, and the value of the cargo seized with the associated interest.

Capacity for preparing wagons for loading in Kouvola doubled

The track capacity in Kouvola for preparing Freight One Scandinavia’s box cars and universal platforms for loading has been doubled as of 3.10.2013.
“Our commitment to Finnish requirements for quality of wagons accepted for loading as well to the needs of rapid wagon supply was the main justification for our project.” states Managing Director Anssi Laakkonen.
Kouvola base can prepare now 30 wagons a day corresponding to even 800 wagons monthly.

New strength in the board of directors of Freight One Scandinavia

The annual meeting of the shareholders of Freight One Scandinavia (FOS) has appointed 28th of June a new member in the board of directors of the company, Mr. Aleksandr Vladimirovich Donkin, the Chief Operating Officer of OAO “PGK”. Aleksandr Vladimirovich holds both a long practical experience in demanding positions within railways and professor’s degree in the field of railway operation.
